So, today was the big day...i was so thrilled to be invited to the Mother's Day Tea at Katie's school. When I arrived, Katie came out into the hall and lead me into the room to my special place. She was all a twitter and had made me many gifts...all the most beautiful things I have ever seen. All of the kids nestled into their mommies laps and then the show began. She sang three songs to me while looking in my eyes. Her teacher had asked all the kids to make eye contact with the mommies. This, of course, made me cry. I had flashbacks of the first time I held her, the times I nursed her in the quiet of the night, and all the times I have just snuggled into her through these last four years. I can't believe how beautiful she is, how she is her own little person, and how happy she makes my every day.

After the singing, we had a beautiful tea and then the children recited a book about mommies by Eric Carle. The whole experience makes me so weepy and joyful.

The whole lead up to this big party was unforgettable too. Katie was very particular about what I was going to wear. She wanted me to wear a skirt...we went shopping to pick a new one out...and she had very strong opinions. She told me she didn't like me in black, she didn't want me to wear anything but a skirt or a dress, and pink was her first preference. As I dropped her off for school today, she said, "Mommy, you forget your special outfit for the Tea." She was so disappointed. Only when I explained to her that I was going home to change because the Tea didn't start until later did she feel better.

Oh, what a day...I am the so, so blessed.  Posted by Picasa
