The fruit of our labor

so today we got a CUCUMBER from our garden. the first and possibly only harvest. There are some zuccers starting and a few other cucs but the garden is SOOOOOO overcrowded that I am not really sure what will happen next.

see, i thought that gardening was an easy thing...put seedlings in ground, water daily, vegetables come. this belief was garnered from the fact that i watched my parents garden for years and it looked like a cake walk. key here...cake walk. who knew things like spacing, soil quality, watering duration etc. would come into play. DUUHHH!

but, this is my second year with a garden and it has been such a learning experience and i have enjyed it so much each year. next year, i already know many improvements i will make and hopefully i will learn a little more. they say it takes five years to be in the swing of the art of teaching and you know what, i think this applies to just about everything...reading an article in Cottage Living about these beautiful rambling homes with dreamy curb appeal. most of the owners said it took them about FIVE years. the magic number.

and so after much typing i will explain the robby pic. last week rob was happily riding his ATV around the back(he does not allow me to call this or the Gator a toy...hee hee) and Dave was cutting the lawn. in my oldest son's(dave, maybe i should say youngest) infinite wisdom he decided to chase robby with the tractor. needless to say, robby was petrified.

so this is the scence when Dave started the lawn tractor today. tears, screaming........ mommy yelling, "Daddy's dead meat." katie crying, "Have God's love in your heart. You can't kill my Daddy!" ohhhh my. and now you ask, how did I have the camera? well, I was photographing my cucumber of course and just had to take a SnAp of the scene. In a short time, we will all laugh at this crazy, wonderful, silly place i call my home.
